Bike Sharing System in PH?

It's a privileged for me to attend the Bicycle Sharing System Training course in ADB as part of their Transport Forum. In a perspective of an avid commuter since my college days (almost a decade) all you can wish is to have a better and greener transportation. As you get to travel and envy those countries who has Bus Rapid Transportation, Amazing Railway system, and even to have their own bicycle lanes, all I can wish for is when are we going to have this in our country? Sounds insecurity but for me it gives me vision for a greater Philippines.

As our facilitator discuss the Bicycle Sharing System, he told us that engaging the government is a big factor including political will. Yes, I agree to this! Political will to implement, engage people, and think of a greener environment without any political motive. As of today, countries like Paris, China, South Korea, and US are into this kind of Bicycle system. More countries in Asia like India, Bangladesh, Vietnam, and Indonesia are looking into this kind of transportation system. Changwon, South Korea has most upgraded technology in their Bicycle system. My only hope is that, we can get to have a pilot area with this kind of project so that we can introduce this to the public.

The technology can be so costly but the long term effect is good. Less carbon emission, maybe less traffic, and more efficient. It's better to make bicycle stations near public transportations like MRT, establishments like malls, parks, interesting sites, and even universities to be more accessible. One of our facilitator Mr. Bradley said that we need to market this like iPhone. We need to make Bicycle Sharing System sexier in the eyes of public. Breaking the culture and mindset with a new thing might be a challenge to the LGU and the operator but why not take the risk? We'll never know unless we get out of our comfort zone and try something new.

Successful public transportation is when we see different people from different social class using it. In a world full of pollution, increasing population, all we can do is to make our world a better place to live for us and to our family.

Anchors Aweigh 2012 day 1

Anchors Aweigh! means that it's a report that the journey can start. The ship must be prepared to sail.

Anchors Aweigh day 1

I have learned so many things from what Ptr. Nixon shared a while ago.

He asked, What does being mature look like? Sometimes, we associate it with age or physical appearance. Or Maybe a subtle way of saying that the person is old?;)

He defines maturity that "has something to do with exposure" which I definitely agree because when you experienced different trials and testings in life then you will see world in a different perspective. The same thing as you let yourself mingle and get impartations to those men and women that you look up to and are expert in their fields.
It takes humility to be mature since in some way, you are thirsty of something great.

When you are mature it increases your perspective in life. It will help you to look things beyond it. You don't take it as it is, instead you see things in different vantage point.

2 powerful words that struck me the most during the 1st session:

1. FOUNDATION
"In our lives Foundations are needed! "

"Foundation is something that you can never outgrow / let go."

it is something that you carry all the days of your life. It is like an alarm that would remind us if were doing the right thing or not.

"If you get lost, you will easily know your way back if you know your foundations!"

And maybe you'll ask, where do I build that foundation? Where can I find it?

The answer is, "You build the foundation in Christ"
Why? Because he just not saved us but he suffered with us. He already laid the ultimate foundation which is his life.

He is our chief corner stone.

In life, when were lost we go back to our foundation.

"Everything will shake w/o foundation."
"Foundations are left when things go wrong"
"Foundation orients you in the right way"

Is your life has the right foundations? That when trials come, you're assured that you will not be shaken and even question / blame God on whats happening...

2. DIRECTION
"In the bible, God brought prophets to people / nation to speak his word to them. They set the direction."

"A prophet is a seer. Seer is someone who sees more and can see more than we can see."

When there is direction, we need character. We let God to mold our character as we seek direction or even when we are going to that direction as well.

And this is true, I may sound religious but for me this is real that the Bible provides direction. When we read and meditate on it we will just be amazed that the word of God is already speaking direction in our lives.

"GIFTINGS can also set direction in our lives." We align ourselves to the giftings that we have.

I.e. We cannot be a singer if we don't know how to sing.
The choreographer teaches people to dance.
We cannot teach if were impatient teaching other people.

We cannot give what we don't have.

"Direction awakens our spirit and maturity."

"IT IS NOT ENOUGH THAT YOU ALREADY KNOW YOUR DIRECTION IN LIFE AND NOT HAVING THE RIGHT FOUNDATIONS because YOU WILL NOT MOVE FORWARD AND WILL BE SHAKEN WITHOUT IT."

At the end of the day, we will check ourselves if what we are doing is founded in the right place. If yes, you will find satisfaction and happiness in every single thing that you do. You'll have the joy that you cant even explain and contagious as well.

What's with Acca Kappa's Blue Lavender Colonia?

Yaaaay! I am so happy to have my 1st Acca Kappa product. Thanks to my mom!=)

I've heard Acca Kappa, way way back when celebrities endorsed some of their products... Then few weeks ago, our professor in Professional Events Mgt class recommended their lavender scent cologne coz it is good for relaxation esp in times of getting busy and engrossed with some events (well, she got me there). haha

When we went to the mall, I told my mom (in a sweet way) if she can buy me one... After few minutes she said yes...=) OMG! Im so happy... I think Rustans is the only place where you can buy Acca Kappa product. This is a very good buy!=D

Now, im enjoying my blue lavender scent Acqua Di Colonia and it gives me a different feeling whenever I smell it...

BLUE LAVENDER description (fr Acca Kappa website):
A fresh and delicate fragrance evoking images of fields of blue swaying to the rhythm of a warm summer breeze. Using only the finest quality of essential oils, heart notes of fine French Lavender are blended with aromatic and vibrant notes of Arabian Incense, Wild Mint, Rose, Pepper and Moroccan Rosemary.

Short history of Acca Kappa:

***
Acca Kappa started manufacturing brushes in Italy since 1869, owned by H. Krull & Co., the Queen of England is one of their loyal customers.

They have different varieties of products. From brushes, cologne, soap, candles, etc.
You can find Acca Kappa in different Rustans branches in Metro Manila.

Benefits of Lavender:

Lavender gives off a beautiful scent that is not overwhelming to the senses. Before you use the lavender fragrance in an essential oil you may wish to research different types of lavender such as lavender roses and blue lavender. The mauve color of lavender is very lovely. Finding out the color meanings may encourage you to use lavender to provide relief from anxiety and nights spent tossing and turning.

The essential oil from lavender can help those who suffer from anxiety, depression, emotional stress, dementia and headaches. It can also be used to relax muscles that have grown tense. Use it for muscle pain, joint pain, sprains, back aches, lumbago and rheumatoid arthritis. Dried lavender can be used to make the essential oil and then it can be applied to the area on your body that is suffering from aches and pains.

Lavender is also very therapeutic for the hair and the skin. It can be effectively used to cleanse the hair and the scalp and to encourage the growth of new hair. It can also be used to treat skin problems such as acne, eczema and psoriasis. Lavender essential oil can be used for fine lines and wrinkles on the skin. The oil from the lavender plant has antiseptic properties and can be used on burns, cuts and sunburns.
